Pamela Vergara, Ph.D., P.E.

Pamela Vergara is president of Skyshadow Ventures, Inc., a professional environmental consulting firm. Prior to her current position, Vergara acted as the director of environmental external affairs for the Florida House of Representatives from 2002 to 2003. She has also served as managing engineer for Jim Stidham & Associates in Mango, Florida from 1999 to 2003 and is presently a tenured associate professor of environmental science technology at Hillsborough Community College.
Vergara's professional activities include chair of the American Society of Testing Materials Subcommittee (1996-1999); chair of the 44th National Highway Geology Symposium (1993); secretary and steering committee member of the National Highway Geology Symposium (1995-1997). She has also been actively involved in conducting research sponsored by organizations such as the National Science Foundation, the Florida Department of Transportation, Hillsborough County and the private sector.
A committed civic advocate, Vergara has been involved with the Commission for Independent Education, Commissioner of Education's Task Force on Workforce Development, The Florida Aquarium Operations Committee, and Tampa Bay Technical Institute's Magnet Academy of Engineering Technology. In addition, Vergara has served as governing board member for the Southwest Florida Water Management District, member of the Pasco-Hernando Community College Board of Trustees, and elected to board of supervisors for the Hillsborough County Soil and Water Conservation District.
Pamela Vergara earned her Bachelors degree from The University of South Florida. She enlisted in several undergraduate and graduate courses at Florida State University before earning her B.S.C.E., magna cum laude; M.S.C.E. and Ph.D. from The Univeristy of South Florida. She is also a Florida Real Estate Broker and holds a diploma from Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago.
