Symposium for the Study of Mild Cognitive Impairment
Mild Cognitive Impairment describes an intermediate state between normal and diseased aging. It typically impairs one or more memory related domains in the brain and is observed as an overall decline across cognitive abilities that is greater than expected for an individual's age or education and interferes with his/her social and occupational tasks.
An annual symposium will be developed to initiate an active discussion among researchers to establish a common approach for the diagnosis and treatment of Mild Cognitive Impairments. Additional educational symposia will be organized to pass on to health care personnel the most up-to-date knowledge of the earliest possible signs of developing dementia. The outcome of these symposia will be made publicly available.
