Alzheimer's Resources
The mission of the Byrd Alzheimer's Research Center is grounded in research. But there is more to this disease than scientific study. Extensive resources are need for caregivers. These links will provide access to other sources of information.
The Alzheimer's Association provides an array of regional and national resources focussing on family support, information distribution, research funding and development of public policy. Local chapters, both within Florida and nationally, provide regional coordination and assistance

The U.S. Administration on Aging provides access to information on US legisaltion that affects seniors, particularly the Older Americans Act which established the Administration on Aging in 1965.
The National Institute on Aging is the part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that focuses on aging and disorders associated with aging. It provides federal funding for Alzheimer's disease both within NIH and in other institutions. The Florida Alzheimer's Disease Research Center was funded by this institute.
Florida has the MyFlorida.com website, which contains the website of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, the State agency that, since 1992, has administered human services for the elderly members of the population.
Finally, two websites provide extensive statistical data: The Census 2000 Aging Data and the National Center for Health Statistics.
