Thomas Conklin

Thomas Conklin

Chair, Board of Directors

Thomas R. Conklin has been a resident of Sarasota, Florida since 1988. He is an accomplished and respected attorney and counselor, with over twenty years of experience in the practice of law in estate planning, including estate and trust administration. He specializes in the development of wills, trusts and tax strategies, including tax and asset protection entities to accomplish family estate goals and objectives. Additionally, Thomas is an elder law attorney counseling families on planning issues related to incapacity and long term care.

As a result of both personal and professional experiences Thomas directed his community service efforts to promoting public awareness of the problems and issues associated with Alzheimer's disease. He served as President of the Board Sarasota/Manatee Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association from 1996-2002 and served as a Director of the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Association from 2002 to 2004. In recognition of his commitment to Alzheimer's awareness Thomas became one of the initial Directors of the Florida Alzheimer's Center and Research Institute upon his appointment to the Board by Senator John McKay when the Institute was established by the Florida legislature in 2003. Hewas elected Chair of the Board of Directors in 2005. Professional memberships include the American Bar Association; Florida Bar Association; Michigan Bar Association; SWFL Estate Planning Council; Sarasota Planned Giving Council; and National and Florida Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He earned his Bachelor of Sciences at Michigan State University and his Juris Doctor at Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University in addition to attending the Masters of Law in Tax Program at Wayne State University.
