Allen Mortham
Retired Educator
Allen Mortham was appointed to the Byrd Alzheimer's Research Center's Board of Directors by Senator Tom Lee. Allen's father and grandfather passed away from this dreaded disease. These events served to inspire Allen to serve as not only an advocate in the fight against Alzheimer's but to study about this disease.
Professionally, Allen Mortham is a retired educator. He served as an elementary, middle, high school teacher and administrator in Pinellas County. Upon his wife becoming Secretary of State and moving to Tallahassee, he became an academic advisor at Tallahassee Community College. This past July after 33 years of service, he retired from education and is now spending time developing his farm.
Allen received his Bachelors degree from the University of South Florida and Masters from Stetson University.
He has been married to Sandy for 35 years and a proud grandfather of 3 grandchildren.
