Clinical Research Coordinator - 04/29/08

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the coordination of clinical research and contract staff/investigators and coordinate phase II-IV clinical research trials.

Education:
Bachelor’s required. Training, certification, or coursework in Gerontology, geriatric psychiatry, CNS, in a nursing, clinical research or medical type environment preferred. LPN, RN , Certification (CCRC, CCRP, Gerontology Cert., etc) a plus.

Experience:
Minimum of two years medical experience and knowledge of clinical research or pharmaceutical company operations.

Technical or Administrative Knowledge:Knowledge of all Microsoft products including, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. Ability to operate office equipment, including but not limited to: copiers, printers, phone/voicemail system.

Special Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Strong detail and organizational skills required
  • Must have skill set to understand work flow and be able to enhance current processes for greater productivity and efficiency
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to foster internal and external relationships

Sponsored Research Finance Specialist - 11/08/07

Position Summary:
Working with researchers and/or administrators in reconciling expenses to budgets appropriate for the proposed research, budgetary negotiations, and administration after awards are made.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree required Masters degree or higher preferred in Public health or biomedical discipline

Experience:

  • Must have experience in grant budget.
  • Must have knowledge of IRB, HIPAA, legal issues, and other regulatory issues.
  • Must have experience with project management, both pre-award and post-award.
  • Must have served as coordinator for submission of NIH and other grants.
  • Extensive experience in organizing and coordinating projects for professional level staff
  • Must have understanding and experience in general cost accounting principles for a research organization. Knowledge of A-21 and A-122 and reporting of A-133 highly desired.
  • Sponsored research and/or grants accounting experience
  • CPA highly desired

Technical or Administrative Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of all Microsoft products including, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including but not limited to: copiers, printers, phone/voicemail system.
  • Must be able to complete successful applications and prepare usable documentation.

  • Must be a good communicator (orally and in writing).
  • Strong detail and organizational skills required. Must have skill set to understand work flow and be able to enhance current processes for greater productivity and efficiency. Strong business correspondence skills.
  • Foster the development of interdepartmental and interdisciplinary cooperation within the Alzheimer’s Center and at other institutions/universities. Collaboration, negotiation, and decision-making skills; ability to learn and apply a wide range of concepts related to research administration including generally accepted award administration practices, appropriate costing practices, and generally accepted accounting practices, and demonstrated strong customer service orientation.

Chief of Business Research Development - 06/21/07

The Byrd Alzheimer’s Center and Research Institute invites applications for the new position of Chief of Business Research Development. The successful candidate should have an MBA and either a BS, MS or equivalent in an area of science relevant to Alzheimer’s disease and experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry. The CBRD will report directly to the CEO and will assume the responsibility of seeking industrial partners for the Institute’s expertise, intellectual property, and clinical trials capability and will also advise the CEO on internal business procedures and organization.

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - 06/01/07

The Byrd Alzheimer’s Center and Research Institute invites applications for assistant, associate and full professor positions from clinical and laboratory scientists in all areas of AD research including brain imaging, inflammation, neurotoxicity/excitotoxicity, amyloid and tangle formation and inhibition,, genetics/genomics/proteomics protease/kinase biochemistry, epidemiology/biostatistics, cell cycle, interventions, and biomarkers. Individuals and established research groups with strong histories and current records of successful research programs are invited to apply.
