Proteomic Detection of Alzheimer's disease Biomarkers in Serum
The blood plasma or serum of patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or Alzheimer's disease contains as many as 10000 proteins that could be used for the early diagnosis of developing memory related diseases. The proposed research plans to evaluate these proteins individually and in combination with state of the art computerized tools to establish optimal disease markers. In addition, several proteins that have been related to Alzheimer's disease due to genetic associations will be evaluated as well. The identification of blood biomarker profiles of Alzheimer's disease and Mild Cognitive impairment will be a valuable tool in the diagnosis and treatment of various forms of dementia.
