The Facilities and Academic Support for Technology (FAST) Department has authority over Byrd Institute facilities and provides academic-level support for the Byrd Institute's information and technology infrastructure. Led by Chief Information Officer David V. Parks, the FAST Department has three divisions:

• Information Technology (IT) — This division implements and supports our network and servers, and provides technology support for desktops, laptops and other hardware connecting to our network.
• Information Services (IS) — IS provides graphics and informatics support for research efforts, development projects, financial tracking and other business conducted by the Byrd Institute.
• Facilities — The Facilities Division ensures both physical and technological security of Byrd Institute infrastructures, and provides engineering support and consultation to Byrd Institute Projects.
